The Amygdala acts like a switch in the brain. It filters all the sense stimulation experienced as well as thoughts and emotions. Then it decides which of the three areas of the brain it should activate to deal with what’s happening — the Reptilian brain, the Mammalian brain or the Higher brain. The Reptilian brain is located in the brain stem and takes care of the unconsious bodily functions like your heartbeat and breathing. It is the fight or flight center for survival. The Mammalian brain is also known as the Limbic system and it’s located in the mid-brain. It is associated with our emotions to do with social interaction and also our behavioural patterns. The frontal lobes of the Higher brain is where the unlimited potential of higher intuition, enlightened perspectives, universal love, joy, oneness etc. is accessed. When the Amygdala is activated into a higher vibration it is able to ‘flip the switch’ more easily and more often towards the frontal lobes of the Higher brain.
